The original plan was to head back home for a cooked breakfast and a coffee and (may be) pop out later to see some of the fun runners.
Any such thoughts were soon cast aside.

As the elite were followed by the serious athletes and then the crowds of selfless dedicated “charity” runners, the urge to applaud and encourage took over.

What a humbling and inspirational sight!

It was certainly very cold and very wet but my 90 minutes in the freezing conditions were nothing compared to the dedication and devotion of Simon and the others who pushed on and completed the course in aid of their chosen charity.
Well done to all of you.

I know Simon through business and his sheer tenacity and determination would have made this easier to complete such a difficult goal. I feel inspired to do one.

I am sure that Simon’s friend is very proud.

Fantastic cause and obviously something very close to your heart. Who could need more incentive than running for a member of your family, a freind or colleague. I suspect most charities are chosen because of peoples connections.
I represented St Anne’s Hospice at last years London Marathon and it is amazing how much you think of the charity and the people it effects, not only when you are doing your 26 miles but also those cold, dark mornings when you have to drag yourself out of bed.

I know it may be a little close to Sunday still but will you do it again? I certainly would, congratulations again and you will never know just how much your efforts are appreciated.

Your comments about MS make you think about how difficult it is to do things we take for granted- so I hope SImon’s efforts are another small step to finding a cure

…and that is after weeks and months of training.

It takes effective time management & self discipline to train for these events as well as motivation and sheer determination to complete your goal.

What Simon would have felt on this Marathon a person with MS can feel by just a short walk.

‘A typical phenomenon is for a PwMS to set out on a short stroll walking reasonably well but as they continue their gait deteriorates or becomes impossible as physical fatigue sets in. Just lifting a foot to take the next step can be an enormous effort. If they push themselves beyond their limit they become completely exhausted and feel like they have run a marathon’

Simon beat his PB and I have to say, I am extremely proud of him as I know how tough this was going to be. (having run a half marathon many years ago myself)

I am sure you will agree – what an amazing friend Simon is to have!

I have already sponsored Simon and would urge others to do the same. The smallest amount makes a BIG difference!!!!!!!! and what a wonderful cause.
